Steffie Yee 余淑婷 is an animator, illustrator, director, graphic designer, and video editor based in Australia.

Steffie’s work weaves together digital and mixed-media processes involving stop-motion, ink, pencil, video, and 2D & 3D animation. With a background in animation and music, her artistic style is driven by movement, storytelling, and the synergy between sound and image.

Balancing her creative outputs between personal and commercial projects, Steffie’s work has appeared in the forms of animation, video and illustration for music, film, TV, commercials, public art installations, and in galleries.

Her work has screened internationally at film festivals, including at the Atlanta Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival, and the Palm Springs Festival of Short Films, where her animated short The Lost Sound (2018) was nominated for two awards. In the online space, Steffie’s work has earned features on Vimeo Staff Picks, Motionographer, Aeon Video and BOOOOOOOM TV.

In her personal art practice, Steffie launched her first solo exhibition Chinese Restaurant Playground at Footscray Community Arts in June 2024. The multimedia exhibition is a celebration of childhood play, imagination, and finding joy within the frenetic settings of her parents’ Chinese restaurant in regional NSW. The exhibition attracted press from ABC Radio Melbourne, SBS, and Liminal Magazine. Chinese Restaurant Playground is set to exhibit at Maitland Regional Art Gallery in June–August 2025.
